We would like to thank CTV for putting Saskatchewan's greatest show on their website at www.ctvsaskatoon.ca. The entire broadcast will be available on the net again this year. Last year at Telemiracle 34, we had over 33,000 hits to our web page. If you can't make it to your television to a CTV Saskatchewan station, Telemraicle is still only a click away. |

Kinsmen Telemiracle Launches Telemiracle Week
February 28 – March 4 is officially Telemiracle Week is Saskatchewan! To launch the final week leading up to Telemiracle on March 5 and 6, a new song has been released with the enthusiastic support of the Langham School. Brad Johner and Donny Parenteau, two Saskatchewan performing artists and Telemiracle favorites sat down to write from the heart. The new song, entitled “You are the Miracle” was introduced at the Langham Elementary School with all 147 students singing along.
“What better way to launch Telemiracle week than to talk about the Miracles we have in each person.” says Tammy Blackwell, Volunteer Public Relations Chair for Telemiracle 35. “This is a week where people from across the province put the finishing touches on their fundraising efforts and get ready to present their total on the show. It is also a week to celebrate how we come together to show our support for our friends and neighbours that need a helping hand.”
The Langham Elementary School hosted the event and talked about their own fundraising efforts. Student Leadership Council President McKayla Rebalkin and Vice-President Joey Tunski talked about their school fundraiser for the week – a boys versus girls fundraising drive. While they are have a challenge between themselves, the bigger challenge is with their principal! If they raise less than $500 by the end of the week, she gets to eat chocolate cream pie in front of them. If it is over $500, she’ll take it in the face! Amid their cheers, Audrey Kampen told the students, “I think I’m going down, but it’s for a good cause!”
“We are winding up for Telemiracle this week.” Dawn Lee, Telemiracle 35 Chair said. “Today is our big kick-off to a huge week. We start building the stage and set at TCU Place on Tuesday. We have cast members arriving all week, touring communities and interacting with recipients of Telemiracle funding. By Saturday, Kin will be joining us in Saskatoon from all over the province. It’s a great week – for us, it’s kind of like the lead up to Christmas!” |

On January 20, 2011, the Regina Branch of the Saskatchewan Abilities Council thanked the Kinsmen Foundation and Conexus Credit Union for their contributions towards the purchase of a handi-van. The Abilities Council was pleased to have both contributors present at the unveiling of the handi-van, and both spoke to the fact that it was wonderful to be able to provide a chance for a greater quality of life for program participants.
The Kinsmen Foundation donated $38,00o towards the handi-van, which will allow for those with transportation issues the chance to engage in all manners of social, recreational, and developmental activities. There was also a contribution made to the Swift Current branch of the Abilities Council for a similar vehicle used for the same purposes.
The Kinsmen Foundation thanks the Abilities Council in both locations for the invitations to make a meaningful impact on peoples' lives. |

LITTLE MISS HIGGINS is described as a “pocket-sized powerhouse”, and has built a strong national reputation throughout Canada, appearing in clubs and on festival stages. Raised in Kansas and now residing in Nokomis, she performs traditional songs along with her own original music that picks up on blues styles that is influenced by a range of artists from Memphis Minnie, Billy Holiday, Big Bill Broonzy to Joni Mitchell.
Most importantly, this cast will be joined by 50 performances presented by people from across Saskatchewan! For a complete list of these performers, please see our webpage at www.telemiracle.com under “Saskatchewan Performers”.
The Kinsmen Foundation makes miracles by providing Saskatchewan people and organizations with special needs equipment and access to medical assistance. In 1991, Jay’s started a golf tournament to raise funds for Telemiracle. To date, this tournament has grown to be one of the most enthusiastic in our Province raising over $700,000 for Telemiracle. Telemiracle is part of Jay’s culture. Supporting Telemiracle is simply part of the job! Two 53’ trailers are fully dedicated to Telemiracle and are indicative of the “wear it on your sleeve” support Jay’s gives the organization. Jay’s and all its employees are a reflection of the community based passion and compassion that makes our Province so great.
The Kinsmen Foundation is pleased to have Jay's recognized through the Association of Fundraising Professional, Honoured Supporter award. |
