The Kinsmen Foundation has recently donated $66,000 to Lloydminster Region Health Foundation, which will be used to purchase a “Point of Care” mobile ultrasound unit for the Emergency Department in Lloydminster Hospital. The Kinsmen Foundation, a volunteer led organization, raises funds at Telemiracle. Proceeds from this renowned fundraiser are used to help purchase special needs equipment and access to medical assistance.
Thanks to the generosity of the Kinsmen Foundation, the Point of Care mobile ultrasound unit is now a reality in our extremely busy Emergency Department. Quite literally, this unit will revolutionize the timeliness and efficiency of care that can be provided every day in the Emergency Department in Lloydminster Hospital.
The ultrasound unit offers a new, remarkable, way for physicians to quickly assess a patient during their most critical moments. The portable ultrasound is designed to allow for quick analysis and decision making, and as Dr. Mark Chapelski, Chief of Staff at Lloydminster Hospital, attests, speediness is of the essence when it comes to saving lives. “We are so thankful for the Kinsmen Foundation’s generous donation. Physicians are able to use the portable ultrasound unit every single day in Emergency, and we see first hand the way it helps improve efficiencies in patient care and diagnoses. We are ever grateful for their gift. It truly helps us save lives”.
“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to improve patient care for Lloydminster and area residents by funding the portable ultrasound machine.” says Kinsmen Telemiracle Foundation Executive Director Joan Steckhan. “Thanks to the generosity of the people of Saskatchewan and in particular the strong support received from the Lloydminster area, the Kinsmen Foundation is able to provide new and innovative equipment such as this.
“This gift is truly working immediately to save lives in our community”, notes LRHF Executive Director Georgina Altman. “With over 34,000 visits to our Emergency Department last year alone, we know that this portable ultrasound unit will help our physicians make accurate, timely diagnoses, and often, save lives. Thank you to the Kinsmen Foundation, who once again, make a difference to our community” |
