Mascots come out to help raise money for Telemiracle

As part of a fundraising effort for Telemiracle, the 2011 Mascot Challenge was held, Feb. 15, during the Nipawin Hawks game.

This year a record 11 mascots participated in the challenge, which raised over $500 for Telemiracle.

The winner of the Mascot Challenge was Sparky the Fire Dog, he raised the most money through the coin box donations, and also placed first in the feats of strength challenge.

The A&W Root Bear came in a close second in the coin box donations. Root Bear was only 36 cents behind Sparky.

This is the sixth year for the event, which is always successful for the Kinettes, who put the event on. This year they raised more than they have in the past, but there were also a lot more participants.

This year's Mascot Challenge participants were Rawkey the Hockey Hawk, Scooter the Squirrel (KTHR), Elpy the L.P. Miller Bear, A&W Root Bear, Northeast EMS Traumasaurus, OK Tire Optie the Lion, RBC Lion, Cooper (Pineland Co-op), Fat Cat (Diamond North Credit Union), Sparky the Fire Dog and the Telemiracle Teddy.
