With Telemiracle 35 just around the corner, Melfort and area will again have a representative among the local talent. For 2010, Todd Desaulniers of Melfort will be performing at Kinsmen Telemiracle 35 on March 5 and 6. Desaulniers is a Johnny Cash tribute singer.
He auditioned in November for the coveted spot but had never considered auditioning until this year.
"They were in November in Saskatoon, I don't remember the dates. I had watched it on television but had never considered auditioning but I thought what the heck I would give it a go this year," Desaulniers said.
"The worst they could say is no. Telemiracle is a great cause, just being a part of it I thought before would be great, I never even considered how I would react if I actually made it," he said.
"There were two whole days of auditions, one whole day in Regina on the Saturday and the other in Saskatoon," Desaulniers said.
He did not find out that he would be a performer until last month.
"I found out in the second week of December," he said.
The Telemiracle performers tend to represent a diverse amount of talent from all areas of the province.
"They generally try not to have a whole bunch of people from Saskatoon, or a whole bunch of people from Regina," he said.
Desaulniers will also be the only representative of the entire northeast region.
"As far as the northeast part of the province, when we went through the list ands it is just me, there is nobody from Tisdale, Nipawin or anybody from St. Brieux or anywhere in the northeast part of the province," he explained.
