Planned Giving

Planned giving is a great way to help

There’s one group of Telemiracle supporters who start planning their gifts long before the show. Sometimes the gifts are made during the donor’s lifetime; at other times, they’re planned for after the donor’s death. In addition to truly making life better for so many people with special needs in Saskatchewan, these supporters are helping themselves as well by realizing some valuable tax benefits.

The options are endless

You’ve probably noticed these special gifts being announced at Telemiracle. They’re usually cash bequests from individual estates, but they can also be stocks or other investments, life insurance, land, or other assets. Your professional advisor can tell you about the tax and legal advantages associated with planned giving.

Bequests By Will

Perhaps the best-known method of creating a legacy, a bequest is a forward-looking way of supporting the Kinsmen Foundation while offering your estate unique tax savings today. You may transfer any type of property: currency, real estate, artwork, etc.

Life Gift

A life gift, such as your home, is a generous and unique planned gift of enormous benefit to the Kinsmen Foundation. You can take advantage of significant tax benefits while still living in your home. The tax benefits of a life gift also apply to farmland.

Life Insurance

Naming the Kinsmen Foundation as the beneficiary of a new or existing life insurance policy is a thoughtful way of making a major contribution to your community. Not only will you be able to avoid using existing estate proceeds, but all premiums paid on the policy will be tax deductible.

Charitable Gift Annuities

Annuities like RRSPs, bonds or shares, when left to the Kinsmen Foundation, can earn income for you while you're alive and put you in a tax preferred status. You can choose to have the payments begin immediately, or you can defer the payments so that they supplement your retirement income in the future.

Memorial Contributions

Your Memorial Contribution to the Kinsmen Foundation provides a thoughtful symbol of your devotion to the memory of a loved one. Your name will be sent to the bereaved family, but the amount of the gift will not be disclosed. You will receive an official receipt for your tax-exempt contribution.

Designating the Kinsmen Foundation Inc.

When making your gift in your will, please note that our legal name is the "Kinsmen Foundation Inc.". This is the entity that carries the charitable designation. We operate under the name "Kinsmen Telemiracle Foundation" to assist people in relating our organization to our fundraiser, Telemiracle.
